Web

Web was performed during SFUAD’s juried art show, Harvest. For two hours I used a custom-made crochet hook to crochet up a ten-foot-by-ten-foot wall.

Web sought to establish a crochet pattern that could be site-adjusted, similarly to Sol LeWitt’s wall drawings. I used grey yarn to mimic graphite and a crochet hook in place of a pencil. The performance was laborious and by using the wall as my paper, I questioned architecture as a support structure. Can yarn and crocheting be support structures? Can they support me, artistically, fiscally?

The video was filmed after the fact.
